Last night we arrived in Beijing. First impression, WAY different than Hong Kong. Harrison and I walked around the streets near our hostel and found nothing but small convenience stores and restaurants with menus completely in Chinese. Nobody spoke English so buying things was interesting. Outside of our hostel we were pretty much the only white kids around which got us many stares and even some laughs from the curious locals. The two of us ordered a pie (of something similar to pizza.. I hope?) for $7rmb (pretty close to $1usd)! But what we've seen so far is really cool, and the other people at our hostel are very friendly and fun to talk to - we can't wait to explore the major part of the city today. Second picture is of our hostel's courtyard where all the travelers here hang out at night.
